The latex of the sapodilla tree (Manilkara zapota) is melted to obtain the gum base. While still hot, organic agave syrup (with a low glycemic index) is added as a sweetener, along with natural flavorings. In the artificial world of chewing gum, Chicza is the exception to the rule; it contains no synthetic polymers.
